The very first season of the Knox Little Athletics Centre Cross Country season
started on Saturday, 24th May 1969 at Knox Park, Knoxfield on Ferntree Gully
Road, where Gilbert Park Softball Fields currently stand.
At the time it was in
cow paddocks, very boggy and cow dung had to be dodged. It was held once a
fortnight and was run by Geoff Warren, a former Australian representative Empire
Games (Commonwealth Games) middle distance runner associated with the Boronia
West club.
The following was taken from the local newspapers where only the first 3
placegetters results were printed. This first season only consisted of five
event days, one Knox and one Victorian Championship.
