2007/08 Personal Best  Award Winners

Sat  29th  March  2008 - Knox Centre Championship Day

Well this has been another fantastic championships for Bayswater Bullets athletes. Our athletes won 25 medals  - 10 Gold, 7 Silver and 8 Bronze medals won from 9 different athletes as well as many ribbon finalist placings. 

Congratulations to the following athletes in winning Knox Centre Awards. Annie Egan won Overall Best U/10 Girls, David Thomson won Overall Best U/12 Boys and Josh Holdway won both the Overall Best as well as Personal Best for Youth Athletics.

U/10 Annie Egan also broke her club record in the 80m Hurdles with a time of 15.49 sec, her previous best was 15.52 sec. 

Centre Champions were U/10 Annie Egan with 4 Gold Medals, YA Josh Holdway with 3 Gold,  1 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal, U/10 Erin Holdway with 2 Gold and U/8 Tom Richardson  with 1 Gold and 1 Bronze Medal. Well done to all athletes competing!

Best PB effort for the Championship Day was by U/7 Annabelle Thomas with 3 PB's including a Silver Medal in the Shot Put.

15th-16th March 2008 - VLAA State Track & Field Championships - Bendigo

The State Championships was in very hot and trying conditions with 39 deg C on both days.

Congratulations to U/10 Annie Egan who won a State Track & Field Bronze Medal in the 400m. Annie also came 5th in both the 800m and 80m Hurdles finals and just missed out in the 60m Hurdles final by 0,02 sec in coming 3rd in the heat.

Also to U/10 Erin Holdway who made the final of the Discus in coming 8th and was 9th in the Shot Put.

U/12 David Thomson who has been struggling with injury performed very well in making the final of the 60m Hurdles with his 7th position. David came equal 7th in the High Jump and 10th in the Long Jump. David just missed out in making the final of the 80m Hurdles with his 3rd placing in the heat.

In all, our athletes came in the top 10 in the State for all events they contested. These are excellent results considering that only a very small percentage make it into the State Championships and in each event, they were competing against 24 of the best athletes in the State.

Sun 9th March 2008 - Werribee Little Athletics Open Day

Congratulations to YA Josh Holdway who broke a another Knox Centre Record, this time in the Discus with a throw of 44.81m and also to U/9 Thomas Elliott  who has reached his Bronze PB Medal status. 

Best PB effort for the morning was  by U/8 Bethany Ammann, U/10 Emily Dewar, U14 Deborah Elliott  and YA Josh Holdway with 3 PB's each. Next best was by U/12 Claire Elliott with 2 PB's and 2 SB's.

VLAA State Multi-Event Championships - 1st/2nd March 2008 - Albury

We had two athletes competing in the Multi-Event State Championships held up at Alexandra Park in Albury against  the best athletes within the state for the title of best "all round" athlete in each age group. There were nearly 500 athletes competing from the 102 Centres within Victoria. The events contested are 100m, 800m, 80m Hurdles, Long Jump and Discus.

This was our best result ever as both U/10 Annie Egan and U/12 David Thomson won in their respective age groups. There is only one winner from each age group so Bayswater Bullets won 2 out of the14 state wide. The Knox Centre had won 5 of those. The VLAA introduced a new scoring system from this year "Athletics Alberta - Second Edition 2007".

U/19 Annie Egan increased her Multi-Event Club Record with 932 points.

U/12 David Thomson increased his Multi-Event Club Record with 1430 points

Congratulations to YA Josh Holdway who broke a Knox Centre Record in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 40.81m. Also to U/10 Zac Thomas who has reached his Bronze PB Medal status.

Best PB effort for the morning was by U/10's Zac Thomas and Joshua Nolan  as well as YA Josh Holdway. all with 2 PB's. 

Sat 23rd & Sun24th February 2008 Victorian Youth Track & Field Championships

Congratulations to Josh Holdway who competed as an Under18 in the Athletics Victoria - Youth Track & Field Championships at Olympic Park. On Saturday, Josh won a Bronze Medal in the 5kg Shot Put with a put of 11.19m.. He came fourth in the 5Kg Hammer Throw with 30.33m. On Sunday, Josh came fourth in the 1.5kg Discus with a throw of 28.35m. These implements are much larger than those at Little Aths,

Congratulations to  U/14 Deborah Elliott and U/10 Joshua Nolan who have both reached their Bronze PB Medal status and to U/8 Tom Richardson  who has reached his Silver PB Medal status.

Eastern Metropolitan Regional T&F Championships - Sat/Sun  16th/17th February 2008

Congratulations to our athletes who competed against the best from the12 different Centres within the Eastern Suburbs. A credit to all our athletes competing. The first two in each event qualify for the State Championships at Olympic Park and then the next eight best results within the State will progress also.

We had five athletes competing for the Knox Centre with some great results.  

Congratulations to U/12 David Thomson who broke the Knox Centre record in the Long Jump with 4.65m. . Also to U/10 Annie Egan who broke two of her own club records. The first was the 60m Hurdles with a time of 11.31 sec and the second was in the 80m Hurdles with a time of 15.52 seconds.

Also to U/9 Alexander Barton-Smith on reaching his Silver Medal status.

Best PB Effort was by U/10 Annie Egan with 5 PB's for the weekend followed by U/9's Alexander Barton-Smith and Nathan Goodger with 2 PB's each.

Three of our athletes medalled this season,  David winning a Regional Gold and Silver Medal,  Annie winning three Silvers and Erin winning two Silvers, which is the best result for many years.

We had three who have qualified or progressed to State. Well done to U/10 Annie Egan (800m, 400m, 60m Hurdles and 80m Hurdles), U/10 Erin Holdway (Discus & Shot Put), U/12 David Thomson (60m H, 80m H, Long Jump and High Jump).  Well done also to U/9's Alexander Barton-Smith and Nathan Goodger who had some good results but just missing out including Nathan's 68cm PB in the Triple Jump.

Sun 10th February 2008 - Collingwood 40th Anniversary Open Day

At the Collingwood Open Day U/10 Annie Egan had her best effort for an Open Day. She won three golds in the 800m, 80m Hurdles & High Jump and won a bronze in the 1100m Walk. The Collingwood Centre celebrated their 40th Anniversary on this day.

Sun 29th January 2008 - Corio Little Athletics Open Day

Week 15 - Sat  26th January 2007 - Knox Open Twilight 

This was a special event where athletes from other Centres from around the state are invited to compete against the Knox Athletes.  Medals were presented to the first 3 placegetters and Ribbons for 4th to 8th place. There was a large entry this season making competition very tough, but some of our Bullets took it up with the best of them with our Open Medal tally of four Gold, two Silver and six Bronze Medals. 

Congratulations to U/8 Tom Richardson and YA Josh Holdway who both won four medals out of four events!

Well done to U/10 Erin Holdway who broke her own club record in the Shot Put with a throw of 6.75m.

Best PB effort for the Twilight was by U/8 Tom Richardson, U/9 Nathan Goodger and YA Josh Holdway  with 2 PB's each.

A very quiet morning with the rain holding off until around 11:00am

Sun 13th January 2008 - Southern Peninsula Little Athletics Open Day

At the Southern Peninsula Open Day at the Tootgarook Sports Reserve, we had three athletes competing.  U/12 David Thomson won three Gold Medal's in the 80m Hurdles, 100m and 200m and a Silver in the 400m.  U/9 Nathan Goodger competed with some good results.  Made the finals for the 100m and 80m Hurdles where he came 8th and 5th. Nathan came 4th in the Shot Put and 7th in the 800m. His younger brother Liam Goodger competed in the U/6 and had a fantastic start on his Little Athletes debut. He won Silver medals in the 50m and Discus, a Bronze in the 100m and finished with a 5th in the Long Jump.

A quiet morning with many still on holidays. Thankyou to the parents who did duty as we were able to supply a full list of Officials.

U/10 Annie Egan increased her 80m Hurdles club record by 0.06 sec to 16.23 Sec.

Sat 22nd December 2007 - Multi-Event Washout

Sun 16th December 2007 - VLAA State Relay Championships - Olympic Park 

We had the most Bayswater Bullets athletes who qualified for the State Relay Championships in many years.

Congratulations to U/9 Jessica Thomson whose B team came 5th in their heat. U/9's Alex Barton-Smith and U/10 Erin Holdway's teams made their way into the finals and came 4th just missing out on medal contention. U/10 Annie Egan's team won a Gold for the second year in a row for the 4 x 200m Relay. U/12 David Thomson's team won a full set of State medals with a Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Sun 2nd December 2007 - Waverley Open Day

Two Bayswater athletes out of 24 Knox athletes competed at the Waverley Open Day which is famous for having the best grass track in the state. Both had a great day with U/12 David Thomson winning 6 medals - Gold in the 80m Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Centre Relay and Silver in the Discus and High Jump. U/10 Annie Egan won Gold in the 80m Hurdles (and breaking the Waverley Open Day record) and Discus with Bronze in the 800m and 1100m Walk plus a fourth ribbon in the Triple Jump.

Congratulations to U/10 Annie Egan who broke the 80m hurdles club record with a time of 16.36 sec. The previous record was 17.03 sec set on 31 Mar 2007 

An excellent effort by many athletes this week on reaching various PB milestones.  U/8 Jacob McCourt, U/9 Cody Norton, U/9 Jack Bole-Brown, U10 Zac Thomas, U/10 Joshua Nolan and U/12 Claire Elliott  all have reached their 10 PB Certificate. U/9 Alex Barton-Smith, U/10's Erin Holdway and Emily Dewar have all reached their Bronze PB Medal status and U/12 David Thomson is the first to reach the Silver PB Medal status.

Sun 18th November 2007 - Eastern Metropolitan Regional Relay Championships

We had seven athletes competing for the Knox Centre at the EMR Relay Championships at Doncaster with some great performances! This was the most Bayswater athletes for many years

U/9 Jessica Thomson's team made it into two finals coming 5th in both 4x200m and the Medley. U/9 Nathan Goodger competed in the MS 4x100m and the 4x100m. U/9 Alex Barton-Smith won Gold in the MS 4x100m. U/10 Emily Dewar competed in the Medley final and came 3rd in the MS 4x100m heat along with U/10 Erin Holdway. Erin also won Bronze with her team in the 4x100m. U/10 Annie Egan won Bronze in the MS 4x200m and Silver in the 4x200m. U/12 David Thomson got the whole set in winning Gold with his team in the Medley, Silver in the 4x100m and Bronze in the 4x200m. Excellent achievement by all athletes!

All the best to the four athletes that will be competing in the VLAA State Relay Championship at Olympic Park next month.

Fri 16th November 2007

It has been the best effort so far this season with 50 Personal and Seasons Best obtained for the night.

Well done to U/12 David Thomson who broke his own Centre record in the Long Jump by 5cm with a jump of 4.82m

Best PB effort for the night was by U/9 Alex Barton-Smith with 5 PB's. Next best was by U/9 Cody Norton and U/10 Annie Egan with 4 PB's each followed by U/12 David Thomson with 3 PB's and 1 SB.
