2009/10 Personal Best  Award Winners

Sat  27th  March  2010 - Knox Centre Championship Day

Well this has been another fantastic championships for Bayswater Bullets athletes. Our athletes won 45 medals  - 16 Gold, 15 Silver and 14 Bronze medals won from 16 different athletes as well as many ribbon finalist placings including seven athletes coming 4th in their finals.

Eight club records were obtained in the Championships and congratualtions to the following athletes:

U/7 Paul Haasbroek extended his record in the Discus with a throw of 19.03m. His Previous record was 17.18m. Paul also broke the Triple Jump record with 5.98m. The previous TJ record of 5.45m was set on 22 Mar 1997. U/8 Kyha Stapp broke the club record in the Shot Put with 4.13m. The previous record of 4.00m was set on 11 Jan2003. U/10 Shaylah Forde broke the club record in the Shot Put with 6.83m. The previous record of 6.75m was set on 26 Jan 2008. U/12 Erin Holdway extended her Shot Put club record to 10.72m. Her previous record was 9.80m. U/12 Annie Egan extended her club record in the Triple Jump (Board) with a jump of 8.70m. Her previous record was 8.15m. U/13 Emma Thomson broke the club record in the 1100m Steeplechase by over 11 seconds with 5 min 08.28 sec. The previous steeple record of 5 min 19.87 sec was set on 24 Feb 1996. U/14 David Thomson extended his record in the 400m to 57.36 sec. His previous 400m was 58.33 sec. David also extended his Long Jump club record to 5.63m. His previous record was 5.60m

Centre Champions were U/11 Gary Haasbroek, U/12 Erin Holdway and U/14 David Thomson with 3 Gold Medals each, U/7 Paul Haasbroek and U/12 Annie Egan with 2 Gold each,  and U/8 Liam Goodger,  U/10 Shaylah Forde and U/13 Emma Thomson  with 1 Gold each.

Best PB effort for the Championship Day was by U/7 Paul Haasbroek, U/8 Liam Goodger, U/11 Nathan Goodger, U/11 Teishyn Goodger, U/12 Alan Damen and U/13 Emma Thomson with 3 PB's each. 

Congratulations to U/10 Shaylah Forde who has reached her Bronze PB Medal status and to U/7 Paul Haasbroek, U/10 Jade Huevel and U/11 Teishyn Forde on reaching their Silver PB Medal status and to U/7 Troy Maggs, U/8 Josh Dewar, U/8 Liam Goodger, U/11 Nathan Goodger, U/11 Gary Haasbroek and U/13 Emma Thomson on reaching their Gold PB medal status.

Congratulations to Annie Egan won Overall Best U/12 Girls in the Knox Centre Awards and to the following who won Knox Centre Five Year awards which will be presented at our Presentation Day: U/11 Thomas Elliott, U/11 Cody Norton, U/11 Nathan Goodger, U/12 Nicholas Elliott, U/13 Emma Thomson, U/14 Claire Elliott and U/14 David Thomson.

Sat/Sun  20th/21st  March  2010 - 2009/10 VLAA State Track & Field  Championships

The VLAA State Track & Field Championships was held at Olympic Park with some great results including two State medallists!

Congratulations to U/11 Gary Haasbroek who won State Bronze in the Javelin and smashing his club record by another 4 metres in the process.  Also to U/14 David Thomson who won a State Bronze in the Discus. 

Others to extend their club records were U/12 Erin Holdway in the Discus with a throw of 24.53m and U/14 David Thomson in the 800m with a time of2 min 13.36 sec. 

 Also competing was U/11 Stephanie White who finished in the top 10 in the State for the 1500m Walk and U/12 Annie Egan competing in the 400m, 800m and 1500m.

These are excellent results considering that only a very small percentage make it into the State Championships and in each event, and they were competing against 24 of the best athletes in the State.

Three athletes extended their club records. U/14 David Thomson who increase his club record in the 400m to 58.33 sec and then extended his club record in the Shot Put to 9.54m. U/11 Gary Haasbroek extended his Javelin club record to 25.98m and U/12 Erin Holdway extended her Discus club record to 23.82m.

We had two athletes who  have reached their Bronze PB Medal status. Congratulations to U/8's Dylan Heuvel and Matthew Elvin and congratulations to U/14 David Thomson on reaching his Gold PB Medal status.

Best PB (Personal Best) effort for the morning was by U/8 Matthew Elvin with 4 PB's followed by U/8 Josh Dewar and U/11 Gary Haasbroek with 3 PB's each.

Congratulations to U/14 David Thomson who increase his club record in the Triple Jump by half a metre with a jump of 11.44m.

Well done to U/11 Alex Barton-Smith on reaching his Bronze PB Medal status and to U/8 Benjamin Roe and U/12 Erin Holdway who have both reached their Gold PB Medal status.

Friday 5th March 2010 - Bayswater South Primary Twilight Sports

The annual Bayswater South Primary School Twilight Sports was held at the Knox Park track with some of our athletes competing including Stephanie White and Emily Roe coming first and second in the 11 YO 800m. Others competing were Alise and Bethany Ammann, Tiana and Isaac Mumford, Bailey Eastwood, Benjamin Roe and Alex Barton-Smith.

Congratulations to U/7 Paul Haasbroek who increase two of his club records. Paul increased his Discus club record by over 2 metres with a throw of 17.18m and then increased his Shot Put club record by 1cm to 6.15m

Well done to U/8 Matthew Elvin and U/10 Issac Mumford have both obtained their 10 PB Certificate. also to U/9 Brooke Murray, U/11 Nathan Goodger, U/11 Gary Haasbroek and U/12 Alan Damen who have all reached their Silver PB Medal status. U/12 Emily Dewar  has reached her Gold PB Medal status.

2009/10 Eastern Metropolitan Regional T&F Championships - Sat/Sun  20th/21st February 2010

Congratulations to our athletes who competed against the best from the12 different Centres within the Eastern Suburbs. A credit to all our athletes competing. The first from each event qualify for the State Championships at Olympic Park and then the next sixteen best results within the State will progress also.

We had seven athletes competing for the Knox Centre with some great results.  

U/14 David Thomson broke a 15 year old 300m Hurdles record twice! His heat club record was 45.50 sec beating the previous club record of 45.81 sec set on 25 March 1995. David then broke it again in the final with a time of 43.40 sec. David also increased his club records in the 800m with 2 min 15.04 sec and Javelin with a throw of 39.64m

U/12 Erin Holdway increased her club records in all three throws. Discus with 23.08m, Shot Put 9.80m and Javelin 22.37m

U/11 Stephanie White has reached her 10 PB Medal Certificate, U/11 Gary Haasbroek reached his Bronze PB Medal status, U/14 David Thomson reached his Silver PB medal status. 

Best PB Effort was by U/11 Gary Haasbroek with 6 PB's for the weekend followed by U/14 David Thomson with 4 PB's.

Three of our athletes medalled this season:  U/11 Gary winning a Regional Gold, Silver and Bronze medals,  U/12 Erin winning two Gold and a Silver medal with U/14 David winning a Silver and three Bronze medals.

We had five athletes who have qualified or progressed to State. Congratulations to U/11 Stephanie White (1500m Walk), U/11 Gary Haasbroek (60m Hurdles,  80m Hurdles, 400m and Javelin), U/12 Erin Holdway (Discus, Shot Put and Javelin, U12 Annie Egan (400m pending, 800m and 1500m) and U/14 David Thomson (800m, 300m Hurdles, Discus and Javelin) .  Well done also to U/10 Shaylah Forde, U/11 Nathan Goodger and U13 Emma Thomson who had some good results.

Wed  17th February 2010

Congratulations to U/14 David Thomson who broke 3 club records for the twilight. David increased his club record in the Javelin by nearly 7m with a throw of 37.95m. He also increased his club record for the Shot Put by 18cm to 9.45m David broke a sixteen year 400m club record with a time of 58.70 sec. The previous record of 1 min 00.95 sec was set on 10 Jan 1994.

Excellent effort  to U/8 Khya Stapp, U/10 Shaylah Forde and U/14 Claire Elliott who have obtained their 10 PB Certificate. Also to a U/11 Max Murray  and U/12 Nicholas Elliott who has reached their Bronze PB Medal status and to U/10 Bethany Ammann on reaching her Silver PB Medal status.

Best PB (Personal Best) effort for the twilight was by U/10 Shaylah Forde and U/14 David Thomson with 3PB's each and then U/8 Kyha Stapp with 2 PB's and 1 SB.

After breaking the club record last weekend in the Shot Put, U/7 Paul Haasbreok has done it again extending the record by another 8cm. The U/7 Shot Put club record is now 6.14m. 

Congratulations to U/8 Josh Dewar on reaching his Silver PB Medal Status.

Congratulations to U/7 Paul Haasbreok who broke a 15 year old Shot Put club record by 0.77m with a put of 6.06m. The old record of 5.29m was set on 25 Mar 1995. Paul also increased his club record in the Discus to 14.77m.

VLAA State Multi-Event Championships - 30th/31st Jan  2009 - Bendigo

We had six athletes competing in the Multi-Event State Championships held up at the Latrobe University Athletics Track, Bendigo against  the best athletes within the state for the title of best "all round" athlete in each age group. There were nearly 500 athletes competing from the 102 Centres within Victoria. The events contested are 100m, 800m, 80m Hurdles, Long Jump and Discus.

U/12 Annie Egan  increased their Club Record in the 80m Hurdles to 14.52 sec. Previous record was 15.13 sec.. 

Best PB effort for the championships was  by U/11 Teishyn Ford with 2 PB's.

A quiet morning with a few families up in Bendigo for the VLAA State Multi-Event.

Congratulations to U/8 Tiana Mumford, U/8 Benjamin Roe and to U/12 Erin Holdway who have all reached their Silver PB Medal status.

Best PB (Personal Best) effort for the morning was by U/8 Tiana Mumford and U/8 Benjamin Roe with 4PB's each followed by U/8 Kyha Stapp with 3 PB's and 1 SB, then U/8 Joshua Dewar and U/10 Emily Roe with 3 PB's each.

Sat  23rd January 2010 - Knox Open Twilight

This was a special event where athletes from other Centres from around the state are invited to compete against the Knox Athletes.  Medals were presented to the first 3 placegetters and Ribbons for 4th to 8th place. 

This competition is a great opportunity to gain SB's/PB's with all  thirteen Bayswater Bullets athletes obtaining them including five club records being broken as well as 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze Medals won. 422 athletes from 39 different Centres around the state competed including a family from Finley NSW.

A fantastic day for club records! U/7 Paul Haasbreok broke a 23 year old club record by 21cm in winning gold in the Long Jump with 2.86m. The old record of 2.65m was set on 14 Mar 1987. His brother U/11 Gary Haasbroek broke a club record in the Javelin with a throw of 23.77m.- a five and a half metre PB. The old record of 23.36m was set on 13 Jan 2007. U/12 Erin Holdway broke two club records in the throws. The first in the Discus with a throw of 22.98m breaking the 15 year old club record by 1.29m. The previous record of 21.69m was set on 25 Mar 1995,. Erin extended her club record in the Javelin by half a metre to 20.07m. U/14 David Thomson also extended his club record in the 800m by over 3 seconds with a time of 2 min 17.28 sec.

Best PB effort for the Twilight was by U/13 Emma Thomson with 3 PB's followed by U/7 Paul Haasbreok, U/7 Troy Maggs, U/8 Liam Goodger, U/11 Nathan Goodger, U/11 Paul Haasbreok, U/12 Erin Holdway with 2 PB's each.

Congratulations to U/14 David Thomson who broke a 15 year old Triple Jump club record with a jump of 10.93m. The old record of 10.62m was set on 22 Dec1995. David also increased his 800m club record by 0.53 sec to 2 min 20.64.  Congratulations also to U/12 Erin Holdway who increased her club Javelin record by over half a metre to 19.46m.

Well done to U/10 Jade Huevel who has reached her 10 PB Certificate and to  U/10 Bethany Amman and U/14 David Thomson who have both reached their Bronze PB Medal status.

Sat 9th  January 2010 - Boys Vs Girls

Our first day back for the new decade. Being the quietest day of the season with most still on holidays, the Knox Centre brought back the special Boys Vs Girls challenge.

Congratulations to U/12 Erin Holdway who broke a 15 year old Shot Put club record with a throw of 9.27m. The old record of 9.11m was set on 17th Feb 1995. 

Excellent effort by U/7 Troy Maggs and U/8 Bailey Eastwood  who have both reached their Bronze PB Medal status.

Best PB (Personal Best) effort for the morning was by U/7 Troy Maggs, U/8 Matthew Elvin,  U/12 Emily Dewar and U/13 Emma Thomson with 2PB's each.
